Although many may be confused by this page, I am here to set the record straight. The face book “Lake Michigan” fan page was started and maintained for many months by Jonathan Perkins as a way of bringing awareness and education to the needs and benefits of the lake and the communities surrounding it.
What started as an art project to see how social media could help gather support and awareness to our great lakes, quickly turned into a movement of over 100,000 people in only a few short months. However with this overwhelming attention, came an unwarranted and unexpected termination of Lake Michigan page’s publishing rights it was deemed, to big to “categorize” by facebook and without “proper ownership”. Although I have repeatedly tried to get in contact with facebook in order to get the publishing rights reinstated, my efforts have been in vane.
